Sheikh Hasina in focus at Munich Security Conference: Foreign Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is visiting Germany, has become the focus of everyone’s attention at the Munich Security Conference, said Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

He said this at a press briefing in Munich on Friday (February 16) regarding participation in various programs of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is on a visit to Germany.

Hasan Mahmud said that Sheikh Hasina’s presence at the Munich Security Conference has attracted everyone’s attention. All the world leaders greeted her, congratulated her and she (Sheikh Hasina) became one of the center of attention.

He said that the Prime Minister had a very busy time today at the Munich Security Conference. Participated in seven bilateral meetings and one panel discussion of Sheikh Hasina.

The Foreign Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Prime Minister of Denmark, Director General of World Health Organization, President of Women Political Leaders, Chairman of Meta Global.

He said that during the meeting with Prime Minister of Denmark and Qatar, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina discussed various bilateral issues including Palestine and Rohingya.He also said that during the meeting of the Director General of the World Health Organization with Sheikh Hasina, the head of the organization congratulated Saima Wazed for being the Regional Director of the World Health Organization. The Director General of the World Health Organization said that Saima Wazed is working with great sincerity and is in regular contact with him.The foreign minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had a meeting with the senior managing director of the World Bank. The World Bank has committed $16 billion in 56 ongoing projects. The World Bank has pledged $509 million in budgetary support to Bangladesh. In addition, the World Bank has recently pledged 700 million dollars for Rohingya and poor people.

Hashan Mahmud said that the Prime Minister requested the World Bank to quickly disburse the budgetary support. Sheikh Hasina thanked the World Bank for financing various projects in Bangladesh.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Germany on Thursday (February 15) afternoon local time to attend the Munich Security Conference.

Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka at 11 am on February 19 after his visit to Germany.
