Of this, 174 crore 66 lakh 90 thousand taka worth of soybean oil is being bought. Additionally, 83 crore 12 lakh taka worth of lentils and 166 crore 75 lakh taka worth of wheat are being purchased by the government.
On Thursday (March 29), during a meeting of the government procurement committee chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, three separate proposals regarding government procurement were approved.
At the end of the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Saied Mahbub Khan, informed the journalists that approval has been given to purchase 50 thousand tons of wheat from Singapore-based company MS Agro Coat International Limited. The total expenditure for purchasing this wheat will be 166 crore 75 lakh 45 thousand taka. The price per ton of wheat will be 303.16 dollars. The previous purchase price was 315.29 dollars.
Furthermore, based on the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, permission has been granted to Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) to purchase eight thousand tons of lentils through local open tender method. The total expenditure for purchasing these lentils from Rajshahi’s Nabil Nova Foods Limited will be 83 crore 12 lakh taka. The price per kilogram of lentils will be 103.90 taka.
In another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, permission has been given to purchase one crore 10 lakh liters of soybean oil through local open tender method. The total expenditure for purchasing this oil from City Edible Oil Limited will be 174 crore 66 lakh 90 thousand taka. And the cost per liter will be 158.79 taka. The previous purchase price was 165.25 taka.
