Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to be prepared for the challenges in facing the challenges of development from the least developed countries (LDCs) or the LDCs. Along with that, the government has also given directions on what benefits can be obtained in this process.

On Thursday (March 28), she gave these instructions at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in the NEC conference room of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting as well as the Chairperson of the ECNEC. Planning Minister Major General (retd.) Abdul Salam and Planning Secretary Mohibul Haque were present at the press conference after the meeting. At this time, Secretary of the Planning Division Satyajit Karmakar and members of the Planning Commission were also present.

Approval has been given to 11 projects in several meetings. The total cost of implementing the approved projects will be Tk 8,425.51 crore. Of this, Tk 7,939.87 crore will be received from the government fund and Tk 485.64 crore will be obtained from project loans.

The Prime Minister said that preparations need to be made from now on to deal with what benefits will be obtained and what challenges will come after Bangladesh is excluded from the LDC list in 2026. In addition, she directed to quickly disburse funds in the projects that are in the final stage.

The Prime Minister said that in several meetings, approval has been given for the construction project of the Chancery House in Egypt. She said that booths and waiting areas will be set up for the service of expatriates there. In addition, approval has been given for the construction project of Union Parishad complexes in all the districts of Bangladesh. After completing the work of these projects quickly, she directed to make arrangements for storing rainwater there.

The Prime Minister further said that special arrangements for women’s training will be made in the new complex of the Jute Board. Along with that, she directed to work keeping in mind the risk of river erosion and road embankment collapse in all upazilas of Kurigram.
