Food Security and Socioeconomic Development Are Our Goals: Prime Minister

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stated that cooperatives need to be expanded across the country. Among them, ensuring food security, socioeconomic development, and improving the standard of living are our goals. Since the inception of the Awami League government, efforts have been made to free the people of the country from hunger and poverty.

Today, Friday, during the distribution of agricultural and educational materials among the beneficiaries under the “My Home My Farm” project in Dadia Kul village, Tungipara, Gopalganj, the Prime Minister expressed these views.

The Awami League President stated that poverty alleviation leads to the improvement of people’s living standards. This was the dream of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We have taken many initiatives to realize this dream. Among them, “My Home My Farm” is a scheme. It will immediately liberate the poorest people. Through cooperatives, there will be increased production, poverty alleviation, and micro-savings. We want to increase production collectively through cooperatives across the country. Our goal is to improve people’s socioeconomic and living standards through food security and micro-savings.

Calling for not leaving an inch of land uncultivated, the Prime Minister said that we want to increase production collectively across the country. She said, “We want to make the country self-reliant. We have arranged for loans without collateral so that the youth can do business instead of seeking jobs.” She added that the government has arranged loans for small businesses. If we add to the pension scheme, there will be no need for the people of the country to rely on subsidies.

She further stated that another modern satellite will be launched. Today’s children and young people will be the soldiers of Smart Bangladesh. To save the country from climate change, everyone should plant two or three trees. Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed agricultural and educational materials among the beneficiaries from her personal fund.

This afternoon, the Prime Minister will visit Tungipara Upazila Model Mosque and Cultural Center. She will then return to Dhaka via the road.

Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina traveled from Ganobhaban to Tungipara via the road. There, she paid respects at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She stood in silent respect for a few moments to express humble respect to the great architect of independent Bangladesh. Later, special prayers and recitations were offered by Bangabandhu’s daughter. At that time, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, maternal uncle Sheikh Helal, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, Gopalganj District Administrator Kazi Mahbubul Alam, Police Superintendent Al Belal Hossain, and other family members were present.
