Storms at 80 km/h Possible in Nine Regions

Storms with speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour may occur over nine regions of the country. As a result, river ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal number two.

The Meteorological Department issued this forecast on Saturday (May 11).

Meteorologist Md. Omar Faruq indicated that temporary gusty winds, along with rain/thunderstorms, may sweep across the regions of Faridpur, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar at speeds of 60-80 kilometers per hour from the west/north-west. River ports in these areas have been asked to display the number two naval warning signal.

Currently, an extended low-pressure system extends from West Bengal to the northwestern Bay of Bengal.

From Sunday (May 12) morning, rain/thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds may occur in many places in the Chittagong division; at a few places in the Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions; and at one or two places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions. Scattered hail may also occur in some places.

Daytime temperatures across the country may slightly decrease, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

From Sunday morning to Monday (May 13) morning, rain/thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds may occur at some places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; and at one or two places in the Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Scattered hail may also occur in some places.

Day and nighttime temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

From Monday morning to Tuesday (May 14) morning, rain/thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds may occur at some places in the Khulna and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Additionally, daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may slightly increase.

In the extended five-day forecast, both daytime and nighttime temperatures may continue to increase.
