The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) has issued new directives regarding the continuation of classroom activities during intense heatwaves in secondary educational institutions.
These directives were sent on Sunday to the heads of all government secondary schools, school and colleges, and private lower secondary, secondary, and school and colleges across the country.
The directives state that the following precautionary measures should be taken to keep classroom activities ongoing in secondary educational institutions under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education during intense heatwaves:
1. Suspend daily assemblies until further notice.
2. Keep all doors and windows of classrooms open during class activities.
3. Ensure that all electric fans and air conditioning systems (if available) in the educational institution are operational.
4. Arrange for sufficient clean drinking water.
5. Ensure that teachers, staff, and students have access to ample amounts of clean drinking water.
6. Maintain continuous communication with nearby health centers to provide immediate emergency medical services in case any teacher, staff, or student suddenly falls ill.
7. Keep necessary oral rehydration solutions available.
8. Ensure that students remain in classrooms at all times.
9. Ensure that from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, teachers, staff, and students stay away from direct sunlight as much as possible.
