Prime Minister Mourns the Death of Poet Asim Saha

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Ekushey Padak-winning poet Asim Saha.

In her condolence message, the Prime Minister said that the death of Asim Saha is an irreparable loss to the field of Bengali language and literature.

The Prime Minister prayed for the peace of his departed soul and conveyed her deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members.

On Tuesday (June 18), at around 1:45 PM, poet Asim Saha breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

In recognition of his contributions to Bengali language and literature, he was awarded the country’s second-highest civilian honor, the ‘Ekushey Padak,’ in 2019.

Additionally, for his overall contribution to literature, he received the Bangla Academy Award in 2012.
