The Foreign Minister Calls on the Youth to Serve the Nation and Humanity

Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has urged young graduates to dedicate themselves not only to their own success but also to the service of the nation, society, and global humanity through their higher education.

He made this call as the chief guest during the 36th convocation of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Board Bazar, Gazipur, on Friday (June 28).

The convocation was chaired by IUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, with OIC Assistant Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo as the special guest.

Hasan Mahmud remarked that over time, people are becoming increasingly selfish, caring less about others. He stressed that educated young people must lead the effort to reverse this moral decline.

Referring to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and the persecution of the Rohingya in Myanmar, the Foreign Minister noted that if Muslim countries were more united, such crises could have been averted. He emphasized the need for global public opinion to work towards ending ongoing conflicts and creating a conflict-free world.

Addressing the young students, Hasan Mahmud stated that life is a battlefield, and dreams and efforts are the greatest tools to win this battle.

Recalling a quote from the late President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, the Foreign Minister said that the kind of dreams that prevent one from sleeping, when combined with the effort to achieve those dreams, generate immense electromagnetic energy. This energy is unstoppable.

The Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for establishing this university in Bangladesh. He remarked that IUT has become a distinguished institution for higher education in technology for both domestic and international students. He expressed optimism that IUT will continue to maintain its position as a “Center of Excellence” in the future.
