Prime Minister Going to China Today, 20 Memorandums of Understanding May Be Signed

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Beijing today for a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. During her visit, around 20 to 22 memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed and announcements for the inauguration of several projects will be made in the presence of the heads of government of both countries.

On Monday (July 8), at 11 AM, the Prime Minister will leave Bangladesh on a special flight of Bangladesh Biman.

On the same day, she will land at Beijing International Airport at 6 PM local time in China. There, she will be welcomed with a guard of honor and proper reception.

The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister will include the Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Advisor, State Minister for Commerce, State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, the Foreign Secretary, other secretaries, and high-level government officials.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will meet with the President of China, the Premier of the State Council, the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

On Tuesday morning (July 9), the Prime Minister will have a courtesy meeting with the President of the AIIB, Jin Liqun. Following this, she will participate in the ‘Summit on Trade, Business, and Investment Opportunities Between Bangladesh and China’ to be held at the Shangri-La Circle. A delegation of Bangladeshi businessmen will also join the summit.

On the same day at noon, the Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with Wang Huning, the Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC. In the afternoon, she will pay respects at the traditional Tiananmen Square. In the evening, she will attend a dinner hosted by the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing.

On July 10, the third day of the visit, the Prime Minister will attend a reception ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in her honor, followed by a meeting with the Premier of the State Council of China, Li Keqiang, and bilateral talks with high-level delegations from both countries. After this, around 20 to 22 memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed and announcements for the inauguration of several projects will be made in the presence of the heads of government of both countries.

On the afternoon of July 10, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People. On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit, Bangladesh and China will issue a joint statement.

On July 11, the Prime Minister is scheduled to leave China on a special flight of Bangladesh Biman and arrive in Dhaka at 2 PM.

It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited China in July 2019. She is visiting China again after five years.
