Name of Sheikh Hasina Youth Institute is changing: Asif Mahmood

The name of Sheikh Hasina National Youth Institute is being changed, said Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.

On Sunday (August 11), he said this while coming to the office for the first time and exchanging views with journalists.

Stating that three decisions have been taken in the ministry today, he said that there is Sheikh Hasina National Youth Development Institute under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We want to rename it. Since Sheikh Hasina’s name is associated with a massacre in Bangladesh. Thousands of students died, we think he was involved. We are changing the name of Sheikh Hasina National Youth Institute to Bangladesh National Youth Development Institute.

“You know we are going through a tough time nationally,” the adviser said. Maintaining law and order has become a big challenge for us now. Due to the law and order situation, the Women’s T20 World Cup is under threat in Bangladesh being the venue. We have discussed this with BCB.

Asif Mahmood said, we have talked with BCB about Women’s T20 World Cup. Foremost among the issues is ensuring security. There is some work to be done from the state level to ensure security. I will go to Yamuna and talk to Yunus Sir about this. He is a sportsman. He will definitely help us. We will ensure security from state level.

The advisor also said some countries have travel restrictions. We will also talk to the United Nations to resolve it.

He said, the honorable secretary has assured me that there are some infrastructural developments, they will be completed soon.

The advisor said that since BCB is an autonomous federation. We cannot give the decision. I can take recommendations from them, I can give them advice. BCB President is absent. We have requested the BCB directors, how they can resolve the issue within the legal framework of the ICC, whether someone can be appointed as BCB president for an interim period, they will report on this later.

Asif Mahmud said, we want to decorate the whole country. We want to shape the system, not the individual. So that the person who comes by following the system, the irregularities and corruption that is being talked about, can never come back.

He also said that the people have given us the responsibility of reform through the popular uprising. As long as necessary, we will be there to fulfill the duty. Those in our interim government have no desire to retain power or stay in power.

Forced resignations at various places – In this regard, the advisor said, we will have suggestions to all, that it is done legally. We must follow the process. Failure to do so leads to a quagmire situation.
