The number of families trapped in water has decreased due to floods, the number of deaths has increased

As the flood situation continues to improve, the number of people trapped in water is decreasing. More than 30,000 families have been freed from water scarcity today compared to Monday. However, the number of people killed in the flood has increased to 27 by 4 more.

KM Ali Reza, Additional Secretary of the Ministry, gave this information at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on Tuesday.

It was informed in the press conference that 74 upazilas of 11 districts have been flooded so far. The districts are Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Noakhali, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachari, Brahmanbaria, Laxmipur, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Sylhet.

Water-logged people have decreased

Yesterday, 12 lakh 38 thousand 48 families were trapped in water due to flood. However, as the flood situation continues to improve, the number of people trapped in water has also decreased. According to the latest updated information, water has gone down from the houses of 30 thousand 619 families. Now 12 lakh 7 thousand 429 families are water-tight.

The number of affected people has also decreased

Today the number of affected people stands at 56 lakh 19 thousand 375, which was 57 lakh 1 thousand 204 till yesterday. 3 thousand 886 shelters have been opened. 5 lakh 9 thousand 728 people have been sheltered in these. Apart from this, 34 thousand 421 cattle have been sheltered.

The death toll has increased

The death toll has increased to 27 due to floods in different districts of the country. Apart from this, two people are missing in Moulvibazar. Of the dead, 10 were in Comilla, 5 in Chittagong, 5 in Noakhali, 3 in Cox’s Bazar, 1 in Feni, 1 in Khagrachari, 1 in Brahmanbaria and 1 in Lakshmipur.

Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Farooq-e-Azam also addressed the press conference

Adviser on disaster management and relief Farooq-e-Azam, Director General (Operations and Planning) of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Md. also spoke at the press conference. Alimul Amin, Hasibul Islam, two coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, Lutfar Rahman and others.

It was said in the press conference that the distribution of relief from all levels, including public and private, is continuing. A number of field hospitals have been set up to provide healthcare in flood affected districts.
