Former US President Donald Trump recently faced controversy while campaigning at Orlington National Cemetery. The country’s Vice President Kamala Harris criticized him severely in this incident. He said, “The burial ground of soldiers is not a place for politics.”
Kamala Harris made a post on social media X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. He wrote there, ‘He (Trump) has dishonored the holy land for the sake of politics.’
The U.S. military said there are restrictions on taking photos or videos inside the cemetery. An employee there was warning the Trump camp about that during the campaign. At this time, an employee of Trump’s team suddenly pushed the employee away. However, denying the controversial incident at the cemetery, the Trump camp said that they had received permission from the families of the dead soldiers to video the cemetery.
Last Monday, Trump’s election camp faced controversy at Orlington National Cemetery. Trump went there to pay his respects to the 13 soldiers killed that day. The soldiers were killed after withdrawing from Afghanistan three years ago.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, opened her mouth on this issue yesterday for the first time after creating controversy. In X, he wrote, Harris visited Orlington Cemetery in Virginia several times while serving as vice president. He will never use it for political gain.
Kamla Harris said, ‘Retired servicemen, military families and above all the army should be honoured. It should never be disrespected. Treat them with the utmost respect and gratitude so that there is no deficiency. And all Americans will agree on this. And I believe that a person who cannot fulfill this simple and sacred duty should never stand behind the seal of the President of the United States.’
Meanwhile, Trump responded to those who criticized the cemetery incident. He spoke about this at an election rally held in Michigan last Thursday. Trump said he was asked to take pictures at the cemetery.
He said, ‘I went there, they asked me to take pictures. But they (critics) are saying, I am running an election campaign.’
Trump also said, ‘The thing I get a lot of is publicity. I don’t need it. I don’t need this publicity.’
The US presidential election is going to be held on November 5. Kamla Harris will compete for the Democratic Party. Republican Donald Trump will fight as his opponent.
