In the first quarter (July-September) of the 2024-25 fiscal year, the quarterly GDP growth rate significantly decreased. According to calculations, the GDP growth rate for this period stood at 1.81%, compared to 6.04% in the first quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
These findings were revealed in the updated report published by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday, January 6.
According to the BBS, in current prices, the GDP size in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year reached 12,666 billion BDT, while it was 11,703 billion BDT in the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
On a point-to-point basis, the GDP growth at constant prices for the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year was 1.81%, compared to 6.04% in the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Agricultural Sector: On a point-to-point basis at constant prices, the agricultural sector grew by 4.16% in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, compared to 0.35% in the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Industrial Sector: On a point-to-point basis at constant prices, the industrial sector grew by 2.13% in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, compared to 8.22% in the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Service Sector: On a point-to-point basis at constant prices, the service sector grew by 1.54% in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, compared to 5.07% in the same period of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
