Chief Advisor Departs for Switzerland to Attend World Economic Forum

Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has departed Dhaka on a four-day official visit to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the annual World Economic Forum (WEF).

According to Press Secretary Shafiul Alam, Professor Yunus and his delegation left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:00 AM on Monday, January 20, aboard an Emirates Airlines flight.

Key Meetings

During the visit, the Chief Advisor is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with:

  • Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany
  • Alexander Stubb, President of Finland
  • King Philippe, King of Belgium
  • Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand

Additionally, he will meet with other notable figures, including:

  • Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of the UAE Prime Minister
  • Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank
  • Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta
  • Dr. Agnès Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International
  • Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization

Special Bangladesh Dialogue

A dedicated dialogue on Bangladesh will be held at the WEF, where global business leaders and heads of international organizations are expected to participate.

Return Schedule

Professor Yunus is expected to return to Bangladesh on January 25.

This visit underscores Bangladesh’s growing presence on the global stage and highlights opportunities for collaboration in areas of economic development, trade, and human rights.
