Rains have reduced a lot, flood situation is expected to improve

Rain has reduced in various parts of the country including the capital. Today Thursday, the Department of Meteorology has announced the possibility of rain in some places of the four divisions of the country. There is no chance of rain in others.

According to the Met Office, such conditions may continue for at least four more days. And it is assumed that the flood situation will improve.

Meteorologist Md. Omar Farooq told Prothom Alo this morning that there is no low pressure in the sea. Rain has reduced in different parts of the country. Today there is a possibility of rain in some places of Chittagong, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Barisal divisions. But it won’t be heavy rain. The rest of the divisions may receive rain at one or two places. Overall, the rain has reduced a lot. This is likely to improve the flood situation.

Heavy rains started in different parts of the country from August 19 due to low pressure in the sea and activity of monsoon. Heavy rains and landslides from upstream caused flooding in at least 11 districts of the southeastern and northeastern regions of the country. At least half a million people were affected by the flood. Flood water has started receding from some places.

Meteorologist Omar Farooq said that there is no possibility of heavy rain before next Monday. In the last 24 hours, the country’s highest rainfall occurred at Noakhali’s Maijdi Court, 58 mm. The Meteorological Department said that the temperature may increase slightly during the day and night as the rains subside.
