There was a discussion about buying 40 MW of hydro electric power from Nepal.
Ambassador of Nepal Ghanshyam Bhandari met with Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan in the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Sunday (September 8).
A delegation of 2 members led by him discussed the purchase of hydro electric power in this meeting.
It was also discussed that Bangladesh and Nepal will work jointly. The Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources informed this information in a press release.
During the meeting, Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan welcomed the ambassador and said that Nepal is a long-time neighbor of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is interested in increasing trade relations with Nepal. The Power and Energy Adviser expressed interest in working jointly with Nepal in the power sector. They discussed about strengthening the relationship between the two countries through SAARC.
Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari congratulated Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan on his new responsibilities. He said that Nepal has recognized the student movement from the beginning and expressed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh. Nepal has good relations with Bangladesh from the beginning and will continue to do so in the future.
They discussed the Power Sale Agreement (PSA) for purchase of 40 MW of hydroelectric power from Nepal and joint venture setting up of 683 MW Sunkoshi-3 hydropower plant and import of 500 MW of electricity from Nepal’s GMR Upper Karnali Hydropower Limited (GUKHL).
