Messi sets up Argentina’s first win: Copa America

Leo Messi’s Argentina beat Uruguay 1-0 in their second match in the Copa America. After this victory, Lionel Messi’s team reached the top of Group A with Chile. In the 13th minute of the match, Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez scored a great header. Messi crossed from the left side.

The Argentines were in form from the beginning of the match. The attack started from a shot by Marcus Aquino in the third minute. Albiceleste then made another attack in the sixth minute, but no goal was scored. The goal did not come in the next attack.

Lionel Messi made his trademark curved shot into the far post, but Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera blocked that attempt by the Argentine captain. It is a wonder that Lautaro Martinez did not score in the return opportunity. This Inter Milan striker wasted an easy opportunity again.

In the 13th minute of the match, Rodrigo de Paul extended the pass for Messi in the short corner. Messi beat a nearby defender and gave a measured cross in the D-box. Guido Rodriguez did the rest of the work with a jumping head.

Argentina dominated the first 30 minutes. However, after man-to-man marking Messi pressed Uruguay. The Cavanas were aggressive for the remaining 60 minutes. But did not seize the opportunity. Couldn’t even put a shot in the net.

Argentina, on the other hand, created a chance for two in the second half. But Uruguay’s defensive walls or forgetting themselves could not widen the gap. In the end, Argentina got the victory with the goal scored in the first half.

The team has also risen to the top of the ‘A’ group of Copa America. At the end of the two matches, their collection is 4 points, Chile is with them with equal points. Meanwhile, there are three Paraguay winners in the first match. Uruguay played one match and Bolivia played two matches.
