The Taliban captured Kabul on August 15. The Taliban may wait until August 31 to announce a new government.
Meanwhile, Mullah Abdul Gani Baradar, co-founder of the Taliban, arrived in Kabul on Saturday. He is in Kabul to hold talks with his Taliban colleagues and other politicians aimed at forming a new Afghan government.
“He will talk to jihadi leaders and politicians to form an inclusive government,” a senior Taliban official told AFP.
According to sources, they may have had an understanding with the United States. The Taliban could announce the formation of a government only after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. An Afghan official, speaking on condition of anonymity after speaking to the Taliban, told the Associated Press.
The Afghan official claimed that the US had a ‘deal’ with the Taliban. They will do nothing until the US military withdraws completely.
The United States has not yet commented on whether there has been a real deal with the Taliban.
In the current situation, there is no government in Afghanistan. Foreign forces are helping willing countrymen to move elsewhere. Former Vice President Amrullah Sheikh, on the other hand, has announced himself as the country’s acting caretaker president. Presumably, he is probably in the Panshi Valley.
