US fears more terrorist attacks at Kabul airport

Final work is underway to evacuate US military personnel from Kabul. Even in this situation, a suicide attack is being feared on Sunday.

US President Joe Biden has warned of a “high risk of attack” before the Americans and their Afghan allies are removed.

The U.S. military has evacuated more than 112,000 people since the Taliban seized power. But a massive suicide bombing at Kabul airport on Thursday killed more than 100 people amid widespread evacuations. Among them are 13 US troops.

The U.S. military says a car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Kabul, killing at least two people. But Biden feared more attacks from IS.

He said the ground situation is becoming increasingly dangerous. There is a strong risk of another terrorist attack at the airport.

“Our commanders have reported the highest risk of a terrorist attack in the next 24 to 36 hours,” he said.

In this context, warnings have been issued about the threat of credible attacks in certain areas, including the entrance to Kabul airport.

Meanwhile, Taliban fighters have come forward in support of US forces to evacuate people after the suicide attack, which was unbelievable fifteen days ago.
