Turkish President tests positive for Covid

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he has been infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. On Saturday, he said that his corona test result was positive.

In a message on social media Twitter, the Turkish president said he was suffering from mild symptoms of coronavirus. His wife is also suffering from similar symptoms. However, he said that he will continue working from home.

Turkey’s Daily Sabah reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Emini Erdogan have been positive. They have mild symptoms of corona.

Erdogan was scheduled to attend a ceremony in the Jonguldak area of ​​northern Turkey on Saturday. He later took part in the event via video conference.

Speaking at the event, Erdogan said he had canceled plans to take part in the event because of a sore throat and a cold. Shortly afterwards, it was announced that the Turkish presidential couple had been attacked in the Coroner Omicron variant.

Officials, ministers and opposition leaders from Turkey‘s ruling AKP have wished Erdogan a speedy recovery. Earlier in the day, Erdogan met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in the country’s capital, Kiev.
