Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said the mystery behind the killing of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu in the city’s Shahjahanpur will be unearthed very soon.
“None will be spared . . . those who are involved in this killing will be brought under the law very soon,” he said while taking to journalists after placing wreaths at Shaheed Smriti Stambha at Rajarbag Police Lines on the occasion of Independence and National Day.
Investigation is underway to identify the killers and those who played role from behind the screen, he said, adding that the countrymen will be able to know everything about the murder of Tipu and college girl Preeti through journalists.
Kamal said police and RAB are trying to arrest the killers and their patrons and both forces are investigating the killing incident with outmost sincerity.
“We’re hopeful about unveiling the real causes behind the killing of Tipu and Preeti,” he said.
The home minister urged the media to play more responsible role in publishing news about Tipu killing incident.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benjir Ahmed also placed wreaths at Shaheed Smriti Stambha. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam, Additional IGP of Special Branch and Bangladesh Police Officers’ Association President Md Monirul Islam along with other association leaders, Bangladesh Police Women Network placed wreaths at Shaheed Smriti Stambha.
