BNP’s discomfort soars as prices of essentials come down: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud yesterday said that Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given one crore family cards through TCB for selling essential commodities at low prices.

One crore family card means involvement of five crore people with the process, he added.

Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), mentioned that the prices of essential commodities have come down across the country.

“The reduction in commodity prices has brought relief to the mass people. When relief came back to the people, the uneasiness of the BNP increased. That is why they called a strike with the left democratic alliance brothers,” he added.

The information and broadcasting minister made the remarks while addressing an extended meeting of the Rangunia Upazila AL on Tuesday.

Vice President of Upazila Awami League Abdul Monaf Sikder presided over the function while General Secretary Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder conducted it.

Leaders and activists of district, upazila and union levels of AL were present in the extended meeting.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that new leadership is emerging through the AL’s conferences across the country to strengthen the organization under the leadership of the Prime Minister and “we will ensure a landslide victory in the next elections as like in 2008.”

He said the BNP had tried to spread confusion across the country when prices of some commodities rose due to the Corona outbreak and Ukraine war.

“They adopted a two-pronged policy in this regard. On the one hand, it has encouraged hoarders and unscrupulous businessmen to stockpile goods and increase the prices, on the other hand, BNP is trying to spread confusion across the country over commodity prices,” he added.

The nature of BNP is to spread confusion among the people, said Dr Hasan and mentioned that they also spread rumors at the beginning of the construction works of Padma Bridge.

“They spread all kinds of confusions that they could not make this Padma Bridge. Today the construction of Padma Bridge is over and it is waiting for the inauguration. Bangabandhu’s daughter Janonetri Sheikh Hasina drove her car from the left side to right side on the Padma Bridge,” he added.

He said that Bangabandhu’s daughter had started vaccination in the country before 130 countries of the world which could not start vaccinating against corona.

“The World Health Organization (WHO) has praised Corona’s handling capacity of the first, second and third waves. The United Nations has praised, the leaders of the world are praising. But the BNP has spread confusion without praising it. They have taken vaccines themselves secretly after spreading confusion among the people not to get this vaccine. Some BNP leaders have taken the vaccine in public rising above the shame,” he added.

“The Information and Broadcasting Minister said that the BNP could not be found in the whole country. The BNP is only found on the television screen. Television journalists have kept the BNP alive. Occasionally a couple of rallies are held. In those meetings they fought within themselves,” he added.

He said they called a strike with the left democratic alliance. “Mr Zafar Ullah called a strike and went to London with his family and during the strike of the left brothers, there was a huge traffic jam in Dhaka city yesterday. I respect the left brothers, because they are a force for freedom. But my question is why they went on strike and joked with the people,” he added.

Mentioning that AL is standing on strong ground in Rangunia, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that people need to be reminded about the situation in the country 13 years ago.

He said that when someone’s daughter goes to school, now she gets money on her mobile phone, which was not there before.

“Bangladesh has moved forward under the magical leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina in this regard. These words need to be reminded and propagated among the people by our leaders and workers. Bangladesh AL is still standing on strong base. In the next election too, Insha Allah, our landslide victory will be ensured all over the country,” he added.
