Minister of Liberation War AKM Mozammel Haque said, the history of liberation war is not enough in the curriculum. It needs to be enriched. The media and researchers should be more active to present the complete history of the Great War of Liberation before the nation.
He made this call as the chief guest at the ‘Bazlur Rahman Smriti Padak’ awarding ceremony for Liberation War journalism at the Liberation War Museum in the capital yesterday.
He said, it is not enough to preserve the history of brave freedom fighters. Along with this, the history of how the Pakistan invasion forces, Razakars, Albadar, Alshams killed, looted, set fire and tortured the unarmed Bengalis should be highlighted. These should be in the syllabus. Otherwise, future generations will not know the real history.
Senior reporter Abu Saleh Roni in print media category in Liberation War Journalism and jointly Shahaduzzaman and Dr. Bazlur Rahman Memorial Medal was awarded to Khairul Islam. The research report was published in Prothom Alo. As Shahaduzzaman was out of the country, Khairul Islam accepted the award on his behalf. Besides, the ‘Bazlur Rahman Smriti Padak’ was awarded to Partha Sanjay, senior reporter of Ekatar TV, in the electronic media category. The medal winners were awarded a crest and a check of Rs one lakh in each category.
At this time, former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University and president of the jury board AMS Arefin Siddique, trustee of Muktijudda Jadughar Dr. Sarwar Ali, Member Secretary of Liberation Museum Sara Zaker and Dhaka University Professor and Jury Board Member Robayet Ferdous were present.
