Belgian Queen’s visit will help Rohingya repatriation: Information Minister

Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Hasan Mahmud said that the only solution to the Rohingya problem is to take them back to their country with dignity. The Belgian Queen’s visit to Bangladesh will help with Rohingya repatriation. On the second day of her three-day visit to Bangladesh, Belgian Queen Matilda Marie Christine Zillain visited the Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday morning. The Minister of Information was with him as a minister in waiting to perform the duties of governance. After visiting the Rohingya camp, the Minister of Information told reporters, ‘The Queen of Belgium has come as a special envoy of the United Nations. He has visited Rohingya camps as Special Envoy on SDGs. I think that his visit will play a role in the development of relations between Bangladesh and Belgium, as well as it will help to get a better response from the world community regarding the care of the Rohingya by the Bangladesh government under the supervision of the United Nations. Rani Matilda visited Rohingya Camp No. 3 in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, visited the education center, primary health care center, Rohingya Women Market and nursery, and eco shed built by Belgium and talked to the Rohingya women. Later, Rani visited various activities including waste management of the camp, and held meetings with various delegations. Information and Broadcasting Ministry-related Parliamentary Standing Committee member Saimum Sarwar Kamal, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mizanur Rahman, and related officials were present at this time.
