The Ministry of Public Administration issued the promotion order on Monday, September 4th. It is stated that the officers promoted to the position will be entitled to the salary and benefits of the upgraded position from the date of joining. However, for foreign allowances and entertainment allowances, the rates specified for the original position at the respective diplomatic missions or embassies will apply.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that the officers’ upgraded salary scale will be in effect until the positions become vacant due to transfers or other reasons.

According to the “Government Officials Promotion Rules, 2002,” for promotions to the position of joint secretary, 70% of officers will be selected from the Administrative Cadre, and 30% will be selected from other cadres.

To be eligible for promotion from additional secretary to joint secretary, officers from the Administrative Cadre need a total of 15 years of service, including 5 years in the feeder post, and officers from other cadres require a total of 20 years of service, including 3 years in the feeder post.
