Dhaka: President of Bangladesh Olympic Association and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has visited the country on an official visit at the invitation of the First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and President of Qatar Weightlifting Federation Mohammad Yousef Almana.
ISPR said in a press release that the army chief left Dhaka for Qatar on Tuesday (December 12).
He will observe the closing ceremony of the ‘Qatar Grand Prix-2023’ held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on December 13-14. Army Chief’s presence at Qatar Grand Prix-2023 will motivate the participating Bangladeshi athletes. Besides, he will participate in meetings with representatives from different countries and exchange views on various issues of mutual sports development.
During this visit, the army chief will also meet with the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Salem bin Hamad bin Mohammed bin Aqeel Al Nabit. This bilateral meeting will be particularly helpful in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Bangladesh and Qatar and the development of mutual military relations between the two countries.
Apart from this, the army chief will inaugurate the ‘Victory Day Fair’ organized by the Bangladesh Embassy in Doha and meet and exchange views with local Bangladeshis. He will return to Bangladesh from Qatar on December 15.
