Ahead of the 12th National Assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) ordered to keep the scheduled banks open on the two days before the polls (Friday and Saturday) in order to meet the election expenses.
On Wednesday (January 3), EC Deputy Secretary Md. Atiyar Rahman sent instructions in this regard to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank.
It is said that on the occasion of the 12th National Parliament election, the polling will be held on Sunday, January 7. Two days before polling (Friday and Saturday) on the said weekend, the Election Commission Secretariat, Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer and various officers or authorities related to the election are required to withdraw cash from the bank and make financial transactions for the purpose of meeting the expenses related to the election. will be
As a result, the Election Commission has decided to keep scheduled banks open at the district and upazila levels including Dhaka, Chittagong and other metropolises with a limited number of manpower. However, the Hon’ble Election Commission has also issued a decision not to engage the bank officers or employees who have been given polling officers or election duties.a
