Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed will be the next Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh. The government has promoted him from the post of Quarter Master General to the post of General and appointed him as the Chief of the Bangladesh Army.
He will serve as the army chief for three years from June 24. Shafiuddin Ahmed will replace General Aziz Ahmed as the Chief of Army Staff. The Ministry of Defense has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.
SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, a son of a freedom fighter family from Khulna, joined the Bangladesh Army through the Ninth Long Course. In December last year, he was promoted to the rank of Quarter Master General from the GOC of the Army Training and Doctrine Command.
