Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association has requested to extend Amar Ekushey Book Fair by two days.
The organization has also written to the director general of Bangla Academy, the organizer of the fair, with this request.
It is proposed to increase the time on Friday and Saturday on March 1 and 2 respectively.
The vice president of the association Shyamal Pal informed that this letter was sent on Saturday.
He said, “Due to the delay in allotment of fair stalls and early rains, the publishers are facing financial loss. That is why the publishers want the fair to be extended by two days. ‘
KM Mujahidul Islam, a member of the book fair management committee, said, “We have received the letter. No decision has been made yet. The decision taken in this regard will be informed after discussing with the people concerned with the fair. ‘
The book fair has become one of the events of Dhaka during the month of commemorating the language martyrs of Bayanno. Though once held in Bangla Academy premises, this fair has now been moved to Suhrawardy Udyan as well.
