Prime Minister’s upcoming China visit will be a ‘game-changer’: Ambassador.

Bangladesh’s newly appointed Chinese Ambassador, Yao Wen, mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming Beijing visit will herald a new chapter in Bangladesh-China relations. Speaking at a seminar at the Chinese Embassy on Sunday (June 2), he told journalists, “It will be another historic trip. It will be a game-changer. It will mark the beginning of a new chapter.”

When asked about the date of the Prime Minister’s upcoming Beijing visit, the Ambassador said, “Wait for it.” Currently, Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen is visiting Beijing to discuss bilateral matters.

The Chinese Embassy organized the seminar titled ‘China-Bangladesh Free Trade Agreement: A Mutually Beneficial Win-Win Choice’ in collaboration with the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) and the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB).

The Chinese Ambassador said, “In the foreseeable future, we will finalize the feasibility of the Bangladesh-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and work together with Bangladesh in this regard.”

“I am confident that the start of the China-Bangladesh FTA will undoubtedly launch a new era of mutual benefits and cooperation, heralding a new golden age of economic and trade cooperation between China and Bangladesh,” he added.

During the seminar, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi highlighted various aspects of bilateral relations.

Chairman of BEPZA, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, BCCCI Secretary General Al Mamun Mridha, and CEAB President Ke Changliang delivered key speeches.
