UN Secretary General briefed the G-7 on Bangladesh’s ability to produce vaccines

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has told the G-7, an alliance of the world’s seven industrialized nations, about Bangladesh’s ability to produce corona vaccine.

During a meeting with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen in New York on Thursday (June 17th), Guterres said he had highlighted Bangladesh’s ability to produce vaccines at the recent G-7 summit to brief him on his (Abdul Momen’s) vaccine initiative.

The Foreign Minister thanked the UN Secretary-General for declaring the coronavirus vaccine a “product of the people”. The Foreign Minister requested the Secretary General to ensure that all countries get vaccinated.

Praising Bangladesh’s strong leadership in various initiatives of the organization, the Secretary General said, “The United Nations has a special relationship with Bangladesh.”

Ambassador Rabab Fatima assisted the Foreign Minister in the meeting.
