Rail communication with Dhaka is closed all over the country

The government has announced a nationwide shutdown of rail services to and from the capital, Dhaka, following the launch and buses due to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. The railway authorities have taken this decision to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said, “We have amended the previous decision.” There is no communication with Dhaka from other parts of the country. No train will leave Dhaka and no train will come to Dhaka. However, except for the districts under lockdown, train movement will be normal in other parts of the country.

On Monday (June 21st), the government announced a lockdown in seven surrounding districts to protect the capital Dhaka from the horrific Corona outbreak. The districts are Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj.

Out of 362 trains of Bangladesh Railway, 102 intercity trains run during normal hours. Besides, 260 local, commuter and freight trains run. Freight trains are not being stopped like before.
