Army will be on the ground in lockdown: State Minister for Public Administration

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said that police, BGB and army will be deployed to implement a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of the epidemic in the country.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said, a strict lockdown has been imposed for a week to prevent infection. All government and private offices and public transport will be closed due to severe lockdown.

However, some offices will remain open after the end of the financial year, the state minister said, adding that our financial year is coming to an end. Accounts section, NBR related offices will be open to a limited extent.

He said, the police and BGB as well as the army would be on the ground to ensure health during the lockdown this time. Experts have also called for the army to be deployed. This will be informed in the notification.

A top government official said, it would be extended by a week for now and another week later. Thus, after 14 days of strict implementation of lockdown, the infection may be reduced and relaxed during Eid. It depends on the situation.

Meanwhile, as the coronavirus infection continues to increase in the country, the government has announced restrictions across the country. The lockdown was announced on April 5 this year due to an increase in corona infections. Although there was a slow lockdown till April 13, the government declared a ‘severe lockdown’ from April 14 as the infection increased further.

Later, public transport was allowed in the city corporation area. However, long-distance bus, launch and train services were closed until Eid-ul-Fitr. Later, public transport was allowed to run from May 24. At the same time hotels and restaurants are allowed to open with half the number of seats.
