‘Strict Lockdown’ is going on for the third day

Today is the third day of a seven-day strict lockdown imposed by the government across the country, including the capital Dhaka, to combat coronavirus infection. Like in the last two days, the mobile court is arresting and fining those who go out without any urgent need.

The police are continuing their activities by setting up check posts to implement the lockdown. Police are interrogating other vehicles besides emergency services. Only pedestrians are allowed to cross the check post if they are involved in emergency services.

Police arrested 550 people on the first day and 320 on the second day in the capital for going out without any urgent needs. Meanwhile, 182 people were fined Tk 1,32,395 on Thursday and 213 people were fined Tk 2,15,540 during the RAB and mobile court raids across the country.

Although there are no people on the main road, crowds of people have been seen in the neighborhoods of different areas. People are flocking to shop as the shops are open but they are rushing into the alley or house when they see a police car.

Due to the recent increase in the rate of corona infection, the Cabinet Division imposed restrictions on the overall activities and movement from 6 am on Thursday, July 1 to midnight on July 7.

Instructions are also given not to go out without urgent need. The instructions also say to walk outside wearing a mask and maintaining physical distance when going out in case of emergency. All government, semi-government and autonomous offices are closed. Strict lockdown will continue till July 7.
