A strong earthquake has hit the coast of Nicaragua in the United States. The quake struck at 3:57 pm Bangladesh time on Wednesday. Its magnitude on the Richter scale was 6.5.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake’s epicenter was 78 km southwest of Nicaragua’s Giquilo coast and its epicenter was about 30 km below the surface.
The USGS said, the quake affected six Central American countries. They are Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage.
