President for maintaining health guidelines on campuses

President MD Abdul Hamid today asked the universities authorities of the country to ensure proper health guidelines in classrooms, dormitories, campuses, offices and other places for imparting physical education as a delegation of Dhaka University (DU) paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.

The President, also the University Chancellor, suggested the university administration to take steps to oversee the immunization for all students within the shortest possible time, President’s deputy press secretary Munshi Jalal Uddin told after the meeting.

During the meeting, the head of the state also directed the authority concerned to take effective measures with arranging extra classes to compensate students for their losses of classes due to the pandemic COVID-19.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman led the delegation while Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-VC (Education) Professor Dr ASM MaKsud Kamal and Treasurer Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed accompanied him.

Abdul Hamid categorically gave priority to marinating the health guidelines saying, “Health rules should be upheld above all.”

The VC briefed the President on various aspects of the university as well as the overall preparations for the commencement of physical education activities.

He informed that physical education activities would be started after getting all of the university at least one dose of vaccine.

All students will be included in the vaccination programmes step by step, the VC added.

The President was also informed about the preparations for the colorful event to be held on November 1, 2021 on the occasion of 100-year celebration of the DU.

President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan was present.
