President seeks increased French investment in IT sector

President M Abdul Hamid yesterday called upon the French investors to increase their investment here in IT sector, including Hi-Tech Parks.

The President made the call as the outgoing French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean Marin Schuh paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this evening.

The envoy thanked the President for his cooperation in discharging his assignments in Bangladesh, President’s press secretary Md Joynal Abedin briefed the newsmen later.

The head of the state gratefully recalled the support and cooperation of France in the Bangladesh’s Great Liberation War in 1971.

Terming France as a significant exporting destination for Bangladeshi goods, the ambassador said there are ample opportunities to enhance the trade and investment between the two countries.

President Hamid called for increasing public and private ties to avail this opportunity.

Abdul Hamid thanked the French government for its assistance in collecting the COVID-19 vaccine and also for donating about two million vaccines.

President Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
