Outgoing Chief Justice pays courtesy call on president

Outgoing Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Mahmud Hossain paid a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban yesterday evening.

During the meeting, the President thanked the outgoing chief justice for his endeavour to bring dynamism in disposing of the cases by ensuring a virtual trial at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin later briefed saying, “It was the outgoing CJ’s merely a courtesy call on the President.”

Terming the Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, as a great shelter for the justice-seekers people, President Hamid highly appreciated his initiatives for the overall development of the country’s judiciary system.

Meanwhile, the CJ also expressed his gratefulness to the President for providing all sorts of cooperation in discharging the assignment in the SC.

President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin, and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
