Romania has expressed keen interest to import skilled and unskilled municipal workers, from Bangladesh.
The proposal came while a meeting was held between Romanian delegation led by Bucharest city Mayor Robert-Sorin Negoita and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh at the latter’s office yesterday afternoon.
The DSCC delegation comprising DSCC chief executive officer Farid Ahmed, chief waste management officer Sitwat Nayeem, chief engineer Saleh Ahmed and the Romanian delegation consisting of deputy mayor of Bucharest Police Victor Neagu, Bucharest City Manager Marius-Daniel Ciobica and Romania-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce President Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, among others, attended the meeting.
“There is a demand for Bangladeshi cleaners in Romania and the demand would be met from Bangladesh,” said Mayor Robert-Sorin Negoita at the meeting.
DSCC Mayor thanked the Bucharest Mayor for the interest and assured him of providing necessary cooperation in this regard.
Prior to the meeting, the visiting Bucharest Mayor and his entourage paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu museum here this morning.।Later, the Romanian Mayor visited different rooms of the museum and wrote remarks on the visiting book showing respect to the memory of Bangabandhu.
Bucharest Mayor Robert-Sorin Negoita came to Bangladesh on a five-day visit following an invitation of DSCC mayor.
He will return to Romania on March 17.
