Instructions to take necessary measures to curb inflation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to take necessary measures to curb inflation to reduce the suffering of the people due to the increase in commodity prices. At the same time, he ordered to solve the problem of electricity.

The head of government gave this instruction in the Eknek meeting on Tuesday (June 6). ECNEC chairperson Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting held at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla city. Planning Minister MA Mannan later outlined his principles.

Referring to the meeting, the Planning Minister said that the Prime Minister has admitted that our two major problems at the moment are electricity and inflation. He directed to work to solve these two problems.

The head of government said that appropriate measures should be taken by using economic techniques to control inflation. He ordered the construction of more warehouses to preserve crops. The Prime Minister has ordered to increase storage and import or internal production of perishable products including onion, garlic, ginger.

The Prime Minister said that it will not be enough to store only in Dhaka – the storage of sensitive products should be increased in Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Chittagong and other places. Not only that, he also ordered to research why inflation is increasing and find out the reason.

The minister said, “Our first strategy is to bring inflation back so as not to allow it to rise.” I know it’s difficult, but there is a way out, that strategy is to take actions quickly, if the price goes up, we have to import and keep stock so that when the price goes up, we can go into the field with stock. Only then the price of the product will come down. And all the markets should be kept smooth, no trouble should be allowed.
