Chinese ship in Mongla with coal

Chinese flag ship MV Jay Hai has arrived at Mongla Port with coal for Rampal thermal power plant in Bagerhat.

On Saturday (June 10) morning, 26 thousand 620 metric tons of coal arrived at Harbaria of Mongla port.

Before this, the ship left Indonesia for Mongla port on May 21. Coal has been unloaded from this ship and taken to the thermal power plant’s own jetty by lighter or coaster ships since morning.
Khulna assistant manager of Togi Shipping and Logistics Ltd., the local shipping agent of the foreign ship “J Hai”, Khandkar Riazul Haque said that the Chinese flag ship MV J Hai with coal arrived at anchorage number 11 of Harbaria in the port’s animal channel around 5 am.Unloading and transportation of coal from the ship has started.

Earlier, on May 16, 30,000 metric tons of Bangladeshi flag ship MV Bashundhara Impress and 30,500 metric tons of coal arrived on May 29 by MV Bashundhara Majesty ship through Mongla port to Rampal thermal power plant.

Meanwhile, Payra Thermal Power Plant and Banshkhali Thermal Power Plant were shut down on June 5 (Friday) due to coal crisis. Amidst the bad news of the closure of these two power plants, the coal carrier MV J Hai rushed to Mongla port with good news for the Rampal thermal power plant.
