Indian airplanes are experiencing disruptions in their GPS signals when flying in the airspace of the Middle East. This phenomenon has been occurring gradually over the past few months, prompting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to issue special notices to the country’s airline companies. The safety concern arises in such situations. In case this issue persists, DGCA has informed the airlines about the methods to adopt.
According to the report, the problem lies in spoofing. Spoofing generally refers to the manipulation of GPS signals of a particular type. Its goal is to confuse the aircraft pilot by making the aircraft appear to be at a location different from its designated flight path. Consequently, such issues could pose a risk to Indian airplanes. The plan is to implement advance caution to address this issue.
