Training of nine lakh polling officers by January 2

The Election Commission (EC) has directed the field officers to complete the training program for the polling officers of the 12th National Assembly elections by January 2.

Friday (December 29) Deputy Director of Election Training Institute. Ala Uddin Al Mamun has sent the instructions to all senior District/District Election Officers.

It said that the training of polling officers must be completed by January 2. In that context, it is directed and requested to complete the training by sending the modified date.

The 12th National Assembly election will be held on January 7. The total number of valid candidates is 1 thousand 896 with 27 parties and independent candidates. However, this number may increase or decrease if the direction comes from the high court.

There are 42 thousand 103 polling stations in the 12th National Assembly elections. The number of voters is 11 crore 96 lakh 91 thousand 633 people. Among them 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 male voters and 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 female voters. There are 852 Hijra voters.

Four lakh six thousand 364 presiding officers, two lakh 87 thousand 722 assistant presiding officers and five lakh 75 thousand 443 polling officers will be responsible for their voting. A total of nine lakh nine thousand 529 polling officers will perform duty in the election.

The EC has appointed school-college teachers, bank officials and officials of various government institutions as polling officers.
