Future uncertain if election not acceptable: EC Anishur

If the election is not accepted internationally, the future is uncertain. There will be a risk of stopping everything including financial, social, business and trade.

On Sunday (December 31) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital, Election Commissioner said in the opening ceremony of the executive magistrates training program. Anishur Rahman made such a comment.

The former secretary of the government said that only free, fair and acceptable elections will not be done in our view. The whole world is watching us. If we cannot make this election fair, beautiful and acceptable, then our future is uncertain. There will be a danger of stopping everything in Bangladesh, especially financial, social, business and trade. Bangladesh may also be in danger of being isolated from the world.

He said, the 12th national parliament election will be held after six days. Elections must be made fair, free and participatory at any cost. For that purpose, the Executive Magistrates are in the field since November 28. They are working tirelessly to enforce the code of conduct. This is the first time that an electoral inquiry has been conducted with a full-time judicial officer for each constituency. Both have done very well on the field.

Electoral Training Institute (ETI) organized the program presided over by EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam. Among others, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal, Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Mohammad Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury, ETI Director General SM Asaduzzaman and senior EC officials were present.
