North Korea has fired several cruise missiles into the sea off its east coast. South Korea claims so.
The missiles were launched on Tuesday morning, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) in Seoul said.
According to a statement issued by the JCS, its military has detected several cruise missiles fired into the sea from North Korea.
The details are being closely analyzed by South Korean and US intelligence authorities.
Pyongyang is under strict UN sanctions over its nuclear program. This year, the country has conducted tests of several types of weapons, including hypersonic ballistic missiles.
Testing of cruise missiles is not prohibited under UN sanctions. But the JCS says it is monitoring North Korea’s next move.
