Commerce Minister Tipu informed that a complete list of essential commodities will be prepared and prices will be regulated ahead of the upcoming Ramadan with the approval of the Cabinet.
“We will, InshaAllah, strive to determine the highest price of agricultural products in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said on Sunday (March 10) at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The Commerce Minister said, “I have seen 18 essential commodities regulated by a national circular in the United Arab Emirates. The prices of these goods will not be increased this month (Ramadan). Maybe we can do the same. InshaAllah, we will improve our supply chain and enhance supply in sufficient quantities. In addition, businessmen need to conduct business with a little more consistency. We need to prioritize religious sentiments in our business.”
Despite the government’s efforts to keep the market stable, it is not having the desired impact. Regarding this matter, he said, “We have been in discussions with those who import and produce essential commodities immediately after taking office. We are confident that there is sufficient import and production.
