“We have acquired maritime territory by maintaining relations with Myanmar and India”: Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that it is our responsibility to harness the resources of the vast oceans. Accordingly, the Blue Economy has been announced. Further research is needed. We have ensured sovereignty over the maritime territory. The resources there will now contribute to the country’s economy. Bangladesh has acquired maritime rights by maintaining friendly relations with Myanmar and India.

On Sunday (March 10) at 10:00 am, while inaugurating the V-Satellite Communication System integrated into the Coast Guard through various physical infrastructures and Bangabandhu Satellite’s assistance at the Coast Guard headquarters in Sher-e-Banglanagar, she said these things.

Earlier, on Sunday at 10:00 am, the Prime Minister arrived at the Coast Guard headquarters to attend the celebration of the 29th founding anniversary and to distribute medals. Later, for bravery and courageous work, the Prime Minister awarded medals to Coast Guard personnel, sailors, and civilians.

She said, in the last 15 years, the capability of the Coast Guard has increased significantly. By equipping them with modern equipment, the Coast Guard will be established as a tri-dimensional force. The Prime Minister said that various modern equipment would be added to the Coast Guard and informed that a dockyard is being built in Gazaria, Munshiganj, to enhance the maintenance, surveillance, and capabilities of this force.

The Prime Minister said, after independence, all institutions were established by the Father of the Nation. He enacted the first maritime boundary law. After 75, Zia, Ershad, and Khaleda were in power. No one took any initiative regarding the rights of the sea. Today, Bangladesh owns its maritime boundaries.

The Prime Minister has stated that the Coast Guard will be established as a tri-dimensional force, two new ships and helicopters are being added to the Coast Guard. The modern Maritime Surveillance System will be established soon. Bangladesh Coast Guard has already started its journey as a tri-dimensional force.

The Coast Guard members, trained domestically and equipped with modern naval integration, are now very skilled. It can connect the East and West with bridges. For that, maritime security legislation is urgently needed. All forces will be established as modern smart forces.

Established in 1995, the Bangladesh Coast Guard is working on various tasks including protecting the country’s marine and coastal fisheries resources, forest resource protection, drug control, and environmental protection.
