Zillur Rahman, a seasoned politician, linguistic soldier, close associate of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, key organizer of the Liberation War, former President, and former General Secretary of the Awami League, passed away on the 11th death anniversary on March 20, Tuesday.
He breathed his last on March 20, 2013, at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore during the tenure as the 19th President of Bangladesh.
Zillur Rahman was born on March 9, 1929, in the village of Bhairabpur in Bhairab Upazila of Kishoreganj district. He actively engaged in politics through the platform of the Language Movement.
