The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The meeting started at the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday morning (April 23).
Earlier, at 10 o’clock in the morning, upon reaching the Prime Minister’s office in Tejgaon, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was greeted with warm wishes by Tiger Gate.
Then, in the Shimul Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders sat down for a private meeting.
After the private meeting, at the Globe Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim will participate in a photo session.
Then, at the Chamelie Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister and the Amir will hold bilateral talks with representatives from both countries.
After the bilateral meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, several memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed between the two countries in the presence of Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
On Monday (April 22), in the afternoon, Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Dhaka for a two-day official visit. Upon arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, he was welcomed by President Md. Sahabuddin with a guard of honor.
After the election on January 7, 2024, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, this is the first high-level international visit from any country in the Middle East.
Within the last two decades, this is the first visit to Bangladesh by any Amir of Qatar. Before this, in 2005, Qatar’s then Amir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, visited Bangladesh.
