On the third day as well, the fire in the Sundarbans remains completely uncontrolled

On the third day as well, the fire in the Sundarbans remains completely uncontrolled. Although efforts to contain the fire began early Monday morning.

Efforts to extinguish the fire started early Monday morning from the Amorbunia Toll Barrier of the Jiodhara Station under the Chandpai Range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division by the Fire Service and Forest Department, involving water spraying.

Alongside local volunteers, the Navy and Coast Guard are also assisting. The fire broke out between the forest of Lotif and the drainage ditch. Since last Saturday, efforts to control the fire have been underway involving the Forest Department, Community Patrol Group (CPG), Village Tiger Response Teams (VTRT), Tiger Teams, and local volunteers and forest dwellers.

However, due to the distance of water sources from the scene and the inaccessible path, it was not possible to spray water on the first day.

Efforts to control the fire were coordinated from yesterday morning. Water was stopped from being sprayed yesterday evening due to darkness and the risk within the forest. After ceasing work at night, everyone returned in the morning to resume efforts to completely control the fire.

S.M. Tarek Sultan, the UNO of Morelganj present at the scene, said that water spraying began at 6 am on Monday. Everything was set up yesterday. Work is underway to provide full effort from morning
